Five years after her death, Japanese painter Fumiko Hori depicts the pulse of life

Fumiko Hori was known as a "flower painter." Her representative work, "Phantom Flower: Blue Poppy," was created when she was 82 years old. She climbed the Himalayas herself and painted the solitary appearance of the flowers.
Fumiko Hori has traveled the world with an insatiable spirit of inquiry. As a painter, she has devoted herself to depicting the various forms of life. Animals that robustly adapt to any environment, flowering trees that always flower and bear fruit in season, microorganisms that have continued to live unchanged for hundreds of millions of years... She has found and expressed awe and beauty that transcends human understanding in these forms.
This exhibition marks five years since the death of Fumiko Hori, and is a retrospective of her life. Through approximately 80 pieces, including representative works from her 80-year career as an artist, as well as sketches from her travels, the exhibition traces the path of inspiration she felt from all living things, along with her own words.
